Q. Why is the location on my Authenticator notification incorrect?

The location you see may be a helpful tool for identifying suspicious login attempts. Please think critically about the location you’re shown when logging in or resetting your password with the Microsoft Authenticator app.

There are situations where the location shown will not match your actual location. The displayed location is based on IP address of where the sign-in originated.

• If you’re using a mobile device or mobile hotspot to access Madison College services, your location will display that of your phone provider.
• If using a virtual private network (VPN) to access services, you will see the chosen VPN location displayed.
