This article contains frequently asked questions about Self Service Password Reset (SSPR).

There is currently also another older process to reset your password, that will be phased out. If you are unable to reset your password with Self Service Password Reset, please try resetting through the older process. Here’s how: https://libanswers.madisoncollege.edu/faq/93046

I have registered with SSPR and I've forgotten my password, where do I go to reset my password?

You can reset your forgotten password by visiting https://aka.ms/sspr and following the prompts. Keep in mind that this will only work if you have pre-registered a method for Self Service Password Reset. If you run into any issues along the way, call Student Technology Help at 608.243.4444 during library open hours.

I don’t recall registering the contact information/methods for Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR). When did this happen?

You were automatically prompted to register methods upon login to a Madison College system. The system walked you through registration. The methods that are available to you are the same as for MFA, with the additional option of personal email.

You can add or adjust methods at https://aka.ms/ssprsetup Accessing that page may require that you have access to one of the methods that you previously registered. If you do not, call Student Technology Help at 608.243.4444 during library open hours.

I updated my personal info in myMadisonCollege Portal but see different contact info when I reset my password. Why?

The contact info in your Portal is separate from info used for password reset, as you’ve discovered.

You will need to update your methods at https://aka.ms/ssprsetup Accessing that page may require that you have access to one of the methods that you previously registered. If you do not, call Student Technology Help at 608.243.4444 during library open hours.

How many verification methods do I have to register for Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR)?

A minimum of 1 verification method is required. However, we recommend you register additional methods to give you more options for self-recovery of account info, for example if you lose your mobile device.

What is the alternate email address for?

The alternate email address is a personal, non-Madison College email address that only you have access to. Recovery codes can be sent to that email address to allow you to reset your password. While alternate email can be used for password resets, it cannot be used for MFA.

Do I need to use a mobile phone for Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR)?

While you can use the Authenticator app or text codes on your mobile phone to allow you to reset your password, there are other options available. You could, instead, use an alternate email address if you do not want to use a mobile phone.

I have forgotten my password and I'm not registered with Self Service Password Reset (SSPR), what do I do?

Unfortunately you will not be able to use Self Service Password Reset (SSPR). There is currently also another older process to reset your password, that will be phased out. If neither process works, please call Student Technology Help at 608.243.4444 during library open hours. After receiving our help, please register for SSPR at https://aka.ms/ssprsetup so you can reset your password on your own in the future.
