I have registered with SSPR and I've forgotten my password, where do I go to reset my password?

Reset your forgotten password by visiting https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/ . Enter your Madison College email address and proceed to reset your password. You will be able to reset if you previously registered a method for Self Service Password Reset. If you run into any issues along the way, call Student Technology Help at 608.243.4444 during library open hours.

I don’t recall registering the contact information/methods for Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR). When did this happen?

You were automatically prompted to register methods upon login to a Madison College system. The methods that are available to you for password reset are the same as for MFA, with the additional option of personal email.

Reset a known password or update your sign-in or reset methods on the Security Info page. Accessing that page may require that you have access to one of the methods that you previously registered. If you do not, call Student Technology Help at 608.243.4444 during library open hours.

I updated my personal info in myMadisonCollege Portal but see different contact info when I reset my password. Why?

The contact info in your Portal is separate from info used for password reset.

You will need to update your methods on the Security Info page. Accessing that page may require that you have access to one of the methods that you previously registered. If you do not, call Student Technology Help at 608.243.4444 during library open hours.

How many verification methods do I need to register for Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR)?

A minimum of 1 verification method is required. However, we recommend you register additional methods to give you more options for self-recovery of account info, for example if you lose your mobile device.

What is the email address on the Security Info page for?

The email address you register on the Security info page is a personal, non-Madison College email address that only you have access to. Recovery codes can be sent to that email address to allow you to reset your password. While alternate email can be used for password resets, it cannot be used for MFA.

Do I need to use a mobile phone for Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR)?

While you can use the Authenticator app or text codes on your mobile phone to allow you to reset your password, there are other options available. You could, instead, use an alternate email address if you do not want to use a mobile phone.

I have forgotten my password and I'm not registered with Self Service Password Reset (SSPR), what do I do?

Unfortunately you will not be able to use Self Service Password Reset (SSPR). If that is the case, please call Student Technology Help at 608.243.4444 during library open hours.

How can I update my options for resetting my password with SSPR?

Update your methods at any time by visiting the Security Info page. You may want to do this if you change your phone number, for example.
