In general, you should start your research by doing some discovery reading, choosing a topic, and getting to know your topic. You might take a look at some of our databases, both for discovery and to begin to find some resources to use for your paper or project. Browse them alphabetically if you know which database you'd like to try first, or browse by subject if you're not sure which database might be best for you. Take some time to analyze the results you are finding before synthesizing them into your paper. You will also want to make sure you are appropriately citing your sources.

If you need help with research or have any questions, you can email, chat, or call the library at 608.246.6640. You can also make a 1-1 appointment with a librarian for more extensive help through our Book A Librarian program. We also have online HOWLER tutorials, created by our librarians, to help guide students through the research process.
